Changing hosting providers

Switching hosting does not have to be stressful. When it is done correctly, your site stays online and nothing is lost.

For WordPress sites

Switching hosting usually involves:

• Migrating files and databases
• Reconfiguring DNS
• Installing SSL
• Testing functionality

I handle this and aim for minimal or zero downtime.

For Shopify stores

Shopify hosting is built in. You only change DNS if your domain moves (e.g. you had a custom domain pointed elsewhere and are moving it to Shopify).

When to change hosts

Consider a change when:

• Your site feels slow
• You experience downtime
• Your host offers poor support
• You have outgrown your plan

What happens to your domain

Your domain stays the same. You update the DNS records so the domain points at the new host instead of the old one. Propagation can take up to 48 hours, though it often completes sooner.
