Fast, secure websites that need little upkeep

I build fast, secure websites for businesses that want a site which loads quickly, stays reliable, and needs little maintenance. These are built as static sites, using Astro and hosted on Cloudflare Pages. For the right kind of site, this approach is quicker, safer, and cheaper to run than a typical WordPress build.

No obligation, no pressure to proceed.

What a static website is

A static website is a set of pages that are built in advance and served to visitors exactly as they are. There is no database working in the background and no plugins to maintain, which is what makes it fast and hard to break. I build these sites with Astro, a modern tool for static websites, and host them on Cloudflare Pages, a global network that serves your pages quickly wherever your visitors are.

In plain terms: the pages are ready before anyone asks for them, so they arrive fast and there is far less that can go wrong.

Why a static site is faster and more secure

A static site loads quickly because the pages are ready in advance. There is no software assembling each page on every visit, which is the usual reason small business sites feel slow. It is more secure because there is no database or plugin layer for attackers to target, and that removes the most common way small sites get hacked. It also costs very little to run, since static hosting is inexpensive and there are no plugin licences to renew.

Speed matters beyond the visitor experience. Fast, well-structured pages help with search rankings and with visibility in AI answers, which is a large part of how I think about every build.

They took the time to understand our goals and audience, and delivered a site that not only looks fantastic but also works beautifully across all devices.

When a static site is the right choice

A static site suits marketing and brochure sites, service businesses, and content or landing pages. It works well when the site needs to look professional, load fast, and stay reliable, without changing many times a day. If your website's main job is to explain what you do and bring in enquiries, this is often the best-value option.

When it isn't the right choice

A static site is not the right fit for everything. Large online shops, sites with customer logins and accounts, and sites that publish heavily every day are usually better on Shopify or WordPress. I will tell you honestly which approach fits your site, rather than pushing the one I happen to prefer.

Updating your site

By default, I handle updates for you as part of ongoing care, so you do not have to touch anything technical. If you would rather make changes yourself, I can add a simple content editor so you can update text and images without code. Either way, the site stays fast and secure.

How this fits with the rest of my work

A static build sits alongside the rest of what I do. The same audit, SEO and AEO foundations, and ongoing care apply, so the site is set up properly from the start and stays that way. If you are not sure whether a static site is right for you, a website audit is the place to start.
