Finding car shows and events in the UK was scattered across multiple sites. No single resource listed events by type, date and location in a way that was easy to use.

Find Me Car Shows was built as a dedicated directory: events, venues, suppliers, photographers and organisers in one place. The site needed to load fast on mobile, rank well for search, and grow organically.

The brief

The brief was straightforward: create one reliable resource for car shows and events in the UK. The site had to be easy to navigate, filter by event type (classic cars, supercars, modified, motorsport and more), date and location, and perform well on mobile.

  • List events by type, date and location
  • Build a fast, mobile-first experience
  • Establish organic visibility for car show search terms
  • Support venues, organisers and suppliers as the platform grows

The challenge

Car enthusiasts looking for shows and events had to search multiple sites. Information was inconsistent, filtering was limited, and many listings were outdated. The market needed one clear directory that could be kept up to date and used easily on mobile.

The technical challenge was to build a structure that could scale: event types, regions, dates and categories needed to work together without slowing the site down.

The approach

The build focused on three areas: structure, speed and search.

Structure: Event types (classic, supercar, modified, motorsport, track day and more) were defined early. A regional hierarchy (counties and regions) was set up so users could filter by location. The content model was designed for clear URLs and simple maintenance.

Speed: The site was optimised for mobile from the start. Most users browse on phones, so load time and usability on small screens were non-negotiable. Images, scripts and caching were set up with performance in mind.

Search: On-page SEO was built in from the beginning. Category pages, event listings and regional pages were structured for search engines. The result was organic growth without relying on paid traffic.

The outcome

Session growth was +108.9% year on year (2019–2020), and new users grew by +124.85% in the same period. That growth held despite event cancellations in 2020.

The site has grown into a platform for events, venues, photographers and suppliers. Users can browse by event type, region and date. Organisers and venues can list their events. The structure put in place at launch has supported continued growth.

Why it worked

The focus was on structure and clarity from the start. A clear content model, fast loading and mobile-first design meant the site could grow without being rebuilt. SEO was built in, not bolted on later.

The site serves a defined need: one place to find UK car shows and events. That clarity, combined with technical foundations that perform, has driven organic growth and ongoing use.
